Party in a box? You go first…

26 Jun

For those of you stocking up on booze for the Mayan apocalypse, I’ve got some fantastic news. You can now buy hard liquor by the box. Not boxes of bottles, like a normal person would purchase, but boxes of liquid. You know…like wine.

Shaken, Stirred, and Straight LLC, a Saint Augustine, Florida, company, has introduced the first line of “high quality” boxed spirits called CheapShot. The first products of the CheapShot line are an ultra premium, ultra smooth vodka, and an amazing new caramel flavored vodka. Both are already award winning and come “highly recommended” by the Beverage Testing Institute in Chicago, IL.

Charles Liniger, brand owner of the CheapShot line says, “It’s about time that a top shelf, high quality vodka is distilled and packaged in such a way that it is available to the larger market that enjoys quality spirits, but doesn’t want to pay for an overpriced, pretty bottle!”

The boxed line of liquor is being marketed for boating, camping, motorhomes, pool parties, and tailgating. The 1.75 liter “handle” also fits perfectly in the fridge and freezer.

CheapShot Vodka is currently being distributed in several regions of Florida, and is slated for distribution in Idaho, Washington, and Illinois this summer. Mr. Liniger is looking to connect with the right distributers to handle Florida and nationwide distribution.

In addition to vodka, CheapShot offers boxed gin, rum, tequila and whiskey. Now, I’m not saying this is totally gross, because I haven’t tried it, but I will ask you to find me a beverage that tastes better coming out of cardboard than it does in glass. And don’t you dare say “juice.”

This is a fantastic vodka. I tried to hate on it in the store until I realized that I was shorting myself an opportunity to be one of the first folks to give it a chance. Glad I did. I’d recommend this vodka to anyone, and because I took the risk, I also get to be the guy to introduce a great thing to my friends. Win-win.

I’ve actually tried this boxed vodka at a party. They had the plain vodka for martinis and mixed drinks, and I really liked it! It was very smooth. They were making caramel apple martinis with the carmel vodka, which were really good, but I liked it by its self over ice best. It reminded me of those little caramel squares in the plastic wrapper. Yum!

I have to say that I was surprised that vodka that good was in a box, especially the caramel. My new favorite vodka flavor. 🙂
