Café Brazil’s New Holiday Menu

27 Sep

If summer is the time for a beer, then fall and winter are certainly the seasons for dark liquor. You know what that means. I know it hurts to think about, but soon enough, you’re going to wake up and wish you hadn’t. Your head will be pounding. The light will blind your soul, and you will understand why roaches flee from it.

You will be hungover.

There’s no avoiding it. It’s just part of the game. Fortunately, all you need to thrive in these conditions is a good breakfast. It doesn’t matter what time you drag yourself from your cave. Breakfast is what you need.

If you’re from Dallas, you’re probably familiar with Café Brazil. With locations in nearly every neighborhood in the city and a newish one in Fort Worth, it’s a staple for college kids and locals alike. Plus, some of them are even 24-hour locations. What’s more, it’s a hangover’s worst nightmare. Everyone has their own personal hangover cure – you know … the food you swear to anyone who will listen is the elixir of life. Mine happens to be quesadillas and Coke. Jealous?

Anyways, whatever your medicine, Café Brazil probably has it. The place has a really eclectic menu, and everything on it is delicious. From breakfast to sandwiches to quesadillas that I promise will make the sun go away, you won’t be disappointed. Not to mention the sweetest coffee selection I’ve found in Dallas.

Earlier this week, I had the opportunity to try out Café Brazil’s newest additions to the menu, which will make their seasonal debut on Oct. 4 through the end of the year. If you think Café Brazil’s regular menu is good, you’ll love the autumn spin on some of your favorites. Here’s what you can expect:

Bananas Foster French Toast

Do you require a sweet kick to knock out your headache? The Fosters sauce on this stuff will get it done. Plus, there’s fruit in it so calorie-wise, it’s almost like you didn’t even drink last night. And do bananas really help with dehydration cramps or is that total BS your tennis coach told you so you would stop whining?

Eggnog French Toast (available Nov. 1)

Like I said: fruit makes all that alcohol you drank last night just disappear. You’re fit. You’re healthy. You’re beautiful. You just look like you didn’t shower, but who cares? Everyone else is eating quesadillas.

Cinnamon Pumpkin Pancakes

This is absolutely my favorite part of the holiday menu. For reference sake, I usually go with whole-grain and nut pancakes if I order them, or corn if I’m feeling fat. Buttermilk just seems like a waste to me. You won’t be disappointed with these. That butter on there. That’s no ordinary butter. It’s got good stuff in it. From the pumpkin in the batter to the cinnamon in the butter, you won’t have to drench these in syrup to get your fix.

Pumpkin Cheesecake with Brownie Crust

Breakfast for dessert? That’s cool. Or maybe this is the last stop of the night (Did I mention multiple 24-hour locations?). This stuff is the sugar rush you need to stop acting like you’re on your death bed. Plus, it’s chocolate!

In addition to these, Cafe Brazil has a specialty Holiday Blend coffee (regular and decaf) as well as S’Mores Latte or Cocoa and Caramel Apple Cider.

I’ve got goodies for you. Café Brazil is so jazzed about the new items that they want you to try them fo’ free! I’ve got a $25 gift card for you to shake off your night-before AND a pound of the new Holiday Blend coffee … you know … in case you really just can’t get out of bed. Here’s what you have to do to cash in:

You’ve got until the end of Oct. 4 to get it done, and we’ll be choosing a rando on Wednesday, Oct. 5, as our winner.
